April seems to be the month for winthorp.
Maybe it’s because spring is finally in the air, most likely it’s just coincidence.
Tonight was especially fun. Winthorp was: Carl Broemel (guitars), Bo Koster (keys), Richard Medek (drums), and Teddy Morgan (guitars). Bo is a lot of fun to play with, the keys add an entirely new texture and he isn’t afraid to help destroy all sorts of music.

Vibeyviiiiibes
We had the very special honor of having Jimmy Carr with us tonight playing electric vibes. The sound in the studio is sort of loud and it was tough to hear him but it made for more surprises when we listened to the playback. Jimmy fit right in and it sounded something like this.

Tonight was fun.
I guess this is what you would consider our first real “winthorp” although technically we’re calling it #4. The lineup: Carl Broemel (guitars), Ken Coomer (drums), Teddy Morgan (guitars), Richard Medek (drums).
There’s something about two drummers and two guitar players that is pretty frightening or awesome, not sure yet:
As usual we don’t have names for these yet but if you’ve got an idea let us know.

Here are a few more pre-thorp moments.
Teddy Morgan on guitar and Richard Medek on drums, with a couple of overdubs added. These are closer to demos than anything else but it’s still fun to listen. We’ve never been good at naming these things…we appreciate any suggestions.

Our first experiments with what would later be called Winthorp were jams between Teddy Morgan (guitar) and Richard Medek (drums). This song went straight to Pro-Tools, which was unfortunately set to cut off at ten minutes, making this the shortest winthorp ever.
While setting up to record a demo, Teddy’s guitar was feeding back while he was adjusting levels. Richard started playing along, and this is what happened.
